Self Catering Accommodation

  • There are around 350 self-catering operators registered with Visit Country Durham with over 800 letting properties in the region. That’s a lot of new people visiting the area and a lot of breakfast opportunities!

  • Artisan Food & Drink Associates recognised a gap in the market and the potential for visitors to want to taste locally made and delicious produce during their stay. Together with Visit County Durham under their food brand ‘Taste Durham’ Keith created the ‘Taste Durham Welcome Pack’ comprising of handmade local sausages & bacon, eggs from local hens and fresh homemade bread together with artisan jams made in a farmhouse kitchen. A total of seven products from five local producers it provides everything you need for a special holiday breakfast treat.

  • A booklet is also provided giving more detail about these producers and other artisan food enterprises within the area promoting the region’s foodie credentials to a wider audience.

  • Access & awareness is key to its success and a simple digital toolkit was devised. This was created to sit across multiple platforms - websites, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter inviting guests to find out more through the ‘Tell me More’ button and place an order. Orders can also be placed via email templates direct from operators websites during the enquiring or booking process and then delivered direct to their accommodation.

  • By creating a different outlet Artisan Food & Drink Associates have opened up a new sales channel to a number of small producers and plans are in place to broaden the range to include different meal occasions.
